Michael Bloomfield

Michael Bloomfield foi um dos primeiros grandes guitarristas de blues branco, ganhou sua reputação com o seu trabalho na Paul Butterfield Blues Band no início de 1965. No mesmo ano foi recrutado por Bob Dylan para trabalhar no álbum Highway 61 Revisited. Mas tarde, Bloomfield formou a banda The Electric Flag com seu amigo Nick Gravenites. O Electric Flag estreou em 1967 no Monterey Pop Festival e emitiu um álbum de estreia em 1968. Em seguida, se reuniu com Al Kooper para gravar o álbum Super Session e realizar uma sequencia de shows. Mike Bloomfield continuou sua carreira como músico de estúdio e produtor de sessões. Em 1969 tocou com Nick Gravenites, e lançaram dois álbuns, frutos de apresentações no Fillmore West e sessões em estúdio. Mike também ajudou Janis Joplin no álbum I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama!, co-escreveu Work Me, Lord e tocou o solo de guitarra em One Good Man. No mesmo ano, Michael Bloomfield reuniu antigos amigos para gravar seu primeiro disco solo. It's Not Killing Me tem uma pegada mais leve, agora com guitarras mais suaves, algumas baladas e blues não tão agressivos. A maioria das canções são de sua autoria, excepto Next Time You See Me que é de autoria de Ben Tucker. Nos anos 70, Mike voltou a trabalhar com  John Hammond, que se uniram ao pianista Dr. John para gravar o álbum Triunvirato. Em 1974 formou o super grupo KGB, que contava com Ray Kennedy (Vocal), Barry Goldberg (teclados), Michael Bloomfield (guitarra), Rick Grech (baixo) e Carmine Appice (bateria). Durante os anos 70, paralelo a seus trabalhos com outros artistas, Bloomfield lançou vários álbuns em carreira solo e infelizmente também foi atormentado pelo alcoolismo e vício a heroína durante grande parte da década. Em 15 de fevereiro de 1981, Bloomfield foi encontrado morto em seu carro, devido a uma overdose de heroína.
